‘The Barnhouse’ Braybrook Cremorne St, Victoria.

Completed 2010

Project budget: $400k
Land: 600m²
Builder: Seventy7 Projects
The original design of the houses was standard townhouse construction in weatherboard, bricks and rendered walls with pitched roof.
The new design sought to celebrate the beautiful Western Red Cedar. I flattened most corners of the original design to achieve a simpler building profile, for the timber to wrap around the building.
The house on the left was stained in red and the other natural. As the facade greys naturally over time, we try to understand the relation between life, time, and architecture.
'To be permanent is contrary to existence. Things are forever changing.' ~Enric Miralles.

Long slot window in the kitchen that looks out to the bamboo plants (which are still growing) in front of the boundary fence.
Integrated fridge.
Lightwell above artwork in the living space.
